Amal Festival receives half a hundred of movies in a month, most of them fiction films
The International Euroarab Film Festival Amal has already received half a hundred films since last January the 28th, when the open call was launched. Fiction genre is the most frequent among the movies that will take part in the eighth edition of the Festival, which will be hosted in Santiago de Compostela from the 23rd to the 31st October.
Morocco and Palestine head the list of countries of origin, followed by Syria, Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan or Egypt. It is also remarkable the number of European productions and coproductions, that came from countries like Belgium, Germany, France or Spain.
The deadline to participate in the VIII edition of Amal Festival will be the 15th June. This year, inscription can be carried out through this website, where regulations are also available.
Amal also launches a new project: Amal Seasons, which wants to promote Arab cinema beyond October. Last Saturday, 27 of March, the Amal Season in Palestine was inaugurated in Balata Refugee Camp. It will go on until May with several screenings at Nablus, Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Also, cities like Buenos Aires, Vigo and Toledo will host Amal Seasons in the near future.
