Last Saturday Balata Refugee Camp hosted the opening of Amal Season in Palestina. The International Euroarab Cinema Festival travelled to this country to turn the screened films into “a voice against the intolerance and prejudices”, as its director, Ghaleb Jaber Martínez, said.
The pictures you can see here came from Palestina and they illustrate the first day of screenings, which will go on until next May in Balata. Also, Amal Season in Palestina will take place in some other points of the country: The An-Najaha University, in Nablus, the Educational Bookshop of Jerusalem and Dar al-Nadwe, in Bethlehem. The complete program is available in the website www.muestrasamal.jimdo.com.
The program includes the short movies ‘Lesh Sabreen’, ‘High heels’, ‘Shwesh, Shwesh’, ‘The North Route’ and ‘Stranger in my home’, as well as the documentaries ‘Al Nakba’, ‘One man village’, ‘Dolls, a woman from Damasco’, ‘I am Gaza’ and ‘Inshallah Beijing’.
This project was launched to promote Arab culture through cinema and offers to institutions the possibility of programming cinema seasons, according to several categories such as country of origin, genre or subject matter
