Argentina’s capital will host from tomorrow the I Arab International Film Festival in Argentina ‘Ojos que ven’, an activity organized by the Creciente Cine Fértil association in collaboration with the International Euroarab Film Festival Amal and has the support of Xacobeo and AECID.
The opening ceremony will take place at 19.00 at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas. Attendees may enjoy the performance of the singer-songwriter and pianist Sumaia O and the screening of the Jordanian short film Borderlands.
In words of Creciente Cine Fértil association, this season "is a manifestation of the wealth and multiculturalism that characterizes the idiosyncrasies of the Arab world, making visible the roots and the current production of nations whose descendants make up about 10% of our population."
The rest of activities of the I International Arab Film Season will go on until August 14. The complete program is available at the web www.cinearabe.blogspot.com. The poster includes feature and short films of both fiction and documentary genre. All these works were exhibited in previous editions of the Amal Festival.
Creciente Cine Fértil asociation was created in 2003 by a group of youths from the University of Buenos Aires interested in the dissemination and critical discussion in Latin America and Arab cinema to promote documentary cinema and audiovisual culture in the Arab world from Argentina to Latin America. ‘Ojos que ven’ captures the importance of mutual understanding. In the presentation of the programming they say "we know that one cannot love what you do not know, so we intend to give you the opportunity to enjoy the quality and originality of the work, in order to broaden your perspective on the diversity of Arab societies and to experience what your heart may feel".
