The International Euroarab Film Festival Amal 2010 is organized by the Fundación Araguaney – Puente de Culturas (Bridge of Cultures), hereafter referred to as Fundación Araguaney. The Festival will be celebrated in October 2010 in Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
1st Article
All the works selected for the Festival, both those which take part of the competition and those outside the Official Section, will be all screened in the venues where the Festival is held.
Short films, documentaries as well as fiction will be available to watch on the Festival’s web page (www.amalfestival.com).
2nd Article
Films which take part of the competition will be selected by the Festival’s Selection Committee. Any film can be presented, documentaries as well as short films produced in an Arab country or co-produced with other countries and any Arab country. Films produced in any part of the world that deal with themes related to the Arab world may also be presented.The presented works have to be productions established between 2008-2010.
3rd Article
Deadline for entering applications is June 15th 2010; later applications will not be accepted. The organization will recognize the person who signs on the entry form as the only one responsible and not other companies or persons who may have participated in the film or its production.
4th Article

Registration does not guarantee that the film will be shown during the AMAL Festival. No fee is charged for participating in the Festival nor will the Festival pay for showing films presented in the competition.
Supplementary Materials:
The Festival is not responsible for any loss or damage to the copies or materials received.

6th Article
The preview copy must be sent on DVD (region 2). It is important to check the DVD copies several times in different types of DVD players before sending them.
If the organization is unable to view the preview copy, another copy in the correct format must be sent.
The same participant can send more than one film, but each title must be accompanied by a separate application form and with the corresponding DVD.
Every film must indicate the original title and the sender.
7th Article
Every film presented in the competition must be subtitled in Spanish, English or French to be examined by the Festival Committee, or accompanied by the script in one of these languages.
8th Article
All selected films will be shown at the Festival in their original version with subtitles in Spanish or any of the official languages in the Spanish State. The original version will be the one which is presented in the country the film comes from.
9th Article
The films selected for the festival will only be screened in Betacam SP (PAL system), Digital Betacam or 35mm. The selected ones must send a clean copy of the film (without subtitles) it has to correspond to the script (4th article). In case that the copy does not enter into the deadline or in the indicated conditions, the Festival holds the right to eliminate the film from the Official Selection.
10th Article
Once the film has been chosen to participate in the Festival, it must be sent in final format before August 15th 2010.Once the film has been registered and selected, it may not be withdrawn from the Festival Program by the producers or copyright holders.
11th Article
Transport and insurance costs of the film will be borne by the applicant until it reaches the Festival Headquarters. The Festival Organization will be responsible for the insurance of the copies once these have reached the premises and until they are returned. The Organisation only pays for the return; the participant, if necessary, has to pay the charges of customs on the shipping.
The preview copy for pre-selection must be sent with transport costs paid and will not be returned and becomes property of the Fundación Araguaney.
The rights of the films presented in the competition will always belong to the director.
12th Article
Regarding films sent from outside the European Union, we recommend using a courier service. No film will be accepted if the customs charges have not been paid.
13th Article
If a copy is damaged, any kind of claim must be demanded from the Festival’s organisation within a maximum of 15 days after being received by the producer. The Festival will not be responsible for more than the cost of printing a new copy in accordance with the standard prices for a copy in laboratories.
14th Article
The Festival management will appoint the jury members. The following conditions apply:
The jury will consist of a minimum of five members; at least a third must be personages from an Arab country.
Persons who have any interest in the production and/or exploitation of the film presented are not allowed to form part of the jury.The jury’s consideration will be secret and decisions have to be taken by simple majority. The Festival Management will assist the jury but will not take part in voting.
The jury members must firmly agree not to publicly express their opinions on the films presented before the official announcement of the winners.Short films shown on the web page may also be voted for by internet users: They can vote for the Best Fiction Short Film and the Best Documentary Short film. The votes of the internet users to each one of these two sections will count as two full votes influencing the decision of the jury.
Any possible conflict (in the organization or running) not provided for in these rules will be resolved by the management of the Festival according to the given rules.
15th Article
The jury will select three nominees for each of the award-winning categories:Best fiction feature film €5,000
Best documentary €3,500
Best fiction short film €1,200
Best documentary short film €1,200
Best director €4,000
Best actress Trophy
Best actor Trophy
Only one of these awards may be ex – aequo.
Furthermore there will be an Audience Award, elected by public vote of the following amount:
Amal Audience Award €1,500These amounts are gross sums.
16th Article
The film producers who receive a prize agree to mention it in all publicity and in the future copies of the film and press material respecting the exact jury announcement and using the Festival logo.The logo is available in the Festival’s offices and on the web page of the Festival, www.amalfestival.com, in the section of corporate identity.
17th Article
The producers or holders of copyright of the films presented at Amal 2010 have to accredit this in front of the Fundación Araguaney, organizer of the Festival; they are responsible for the veracity of this claim.
In case of a claim or discrepancy regarding the copyright of any of the works presented, the party who has accredited this (in accordance with the previous point) must respond directly to the claim to third parties and to the Fundación Araguaney and the Festival Amal 2010.
The producers or holders of copyright of the film freely authorize Fundación Araguaney to show the film at the Amal Festival, and to use it for publicity and advertising, showing up to 10% of the film before, during and after the Festival in any broadcasting or viewing way.
The producers or holders of copyright of the film, subject to previous notification by the Fundación Araguaney, freely authorize the Foundation to show the film for a period of three years in public at cinema screenings for non-profit organized by the Foundation or with its cooperation, regardless of the State where these are held. If the film is not selected for the Official Section of the Festival, the authorization won’t take effect.
The producers or holders of copyright of the film presented at the Festival will provide one copy in DVD format for the media library at the Fundación Araguaney.
The abovementioned authorization does not imply transfer of rights of distribution of the film.
18th Article
In case of disagreements about the interpretation of these regulations, the Spanish text will be applied. Participation in the festival automatically includes the acceptance of the regulations. In any case of conflict, the management of the Festival will maintain its authority, consulting the regulations of the FIAPF as regards international cinema.
