Buenos Aires will host from next July 29th the I International Arab Film Festival in Argentina ‘Ojos que ven’, an activity organized by the Creciente Cine Fértil association in collaboration with the International Euroarab Film Festival Amal and with the support of Xacobeo and AECID. This exhibition aims to promote Arab culture through film and bring the Argentinean audience closer to the social and cultural reality of the Arab world.

The program of ‘Ojos que ven', which has been planned by Amal, will offer a total of 30 productions of Arab origin or theme that, in most cases, will be screened for the first time in Argentina. The opening ceremony will take place on July 29 at the Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center, followed by the performance of the musician Mariem Labidi and the screening of the short film Borderlands. The other activities of this Amal Season will take place until 14 August. The full program is available on the web www.cinearabe.blogspot.com.

The program for the I International Arab Film Festival in Argentina includes both feature and short films and both fiction and documentary genre. All these works were screened at the Amal Festival.

In the words of Creciente Cine Fértil association, this season "is a manifestation of the wealth and multiculturalism that characterizes the idiosyncrasies of the Arab world, making visible the roots and the current production of nations whose descendants make up about 10% of our population."

The Creciente Cine Fértil association was created in 2003 by a group of youth people from Buenos Aires University who were interested in the diffusion and critical discussion in Latin America about documentaries and Arab cinema, to promote audiovisual and cinematographic culture in the Arab world from Argentina to Latin America.
